Founder of Peace Within Prison Yoga
Irene is an Africa Yoga Project Graduate and Certified Baptiste Yoga Teacher. She has been teaching in Kenyan prisons for over 8 years.
PWPY Outreach Coordinator
Florence is a graduate of the PWPY Associate Yoga teacher training held at Langata Women Maximum Security Prison in 2018; has been a professional dancer (Latin Ballroom dance) for over 10 years and is also a certified events manager. She is a mentor to many youth groups and is involved in policy lobbying for a free, fair and non discriminatory Kenya (Read justice and equality for all persons).

Jackline is the leader of volunteers. She also selflessly teaches 3 times a week at 3 different prisons in Kenya.

Experienced in working with financial, manufacturing and social based organizations.
Rose is passionate about social, psychological and emotional well being of individuals and the society at large. That’s what make her even more passionate about yoga.
Volunteering at PWPY gives Rose more satisfaction and confidence than any physical fitness. Yoga gives the prisoners the internal peace, calmness and self forgiveness and acceptance.
Rose believes in yoga is a tool to self realization, acceptance and a healing tool to many.

From Central Kenya, currently living in Nairobi. Alex is a 200HR Certified Baptiste Power Yoga Teacher. He has a level one teachers certificate in Kundalini Yoga and has a 50HR Certificate in Ashtanga Vnyasa Yoga. He is also a first dan black belt holder in Korean Unified Martial Arts (Tong Old Moo Do)

Originally from East Islip, New York and now living in Santa Barbara California. Fran met Irene in 2014 on a Seva trip in Kenya and sharing our passion of yoga, and incarceration rehabilitation, we clicked and began to work together. Fran’s participation in PWPY includes fundraising, teaching, consulting and hosting. A proud board member and inspired and honored to be a part of PWPY.
PWPY Board Member
Laurien fell in love with yoga in London over a decade ago. She lived in Nairobi for five years where she studied power yoga with Irene. She is currently based in Bangkok and stays in close contact with the team in Nairobi, supporting their work however she can. When she's not practicing yoga or playing with her two young sons, she works as an Investment Officer for the International Finance Corporation (private sector arm of the World Bank)
